Know all men by these presents that We WILLIAM CAVELL of the parish of Saint Michael Penkevil in the County of Cornwall Labourer and THOMAS CAVELL of the parish of Kenwyn in the said County Blacksmith are held and firmly bound unto JOHN LAVIN and WILLIAM BATE Churchwardens, and JOHN RICHARDS and HENRY TREWOLLA Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint Clements in the said County (In trust for the parishioners of the said parish) in Fifty pounds of good and lawful money of the United Kingdom to be paid to the said JOHN LAVIN WILLIAM BATE JOHN RICHARDS and HENRY TREWOLLA or their certain Attorney Executors Administrators or Assigns To which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of us jointly and severally and our and each and every of our Heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals and dated the 19th day of November in the forty fifth year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the third by the grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland King defender of the faith and in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and four.

The Condition of this obligation is such that Whereas PRISCILLA MORGAN of the said parish of Saint Clements singlewoman hath in and by her voluntary examination taken in writing and upon Oath before JOHN VIVIAN Esquire one of his Majesty’s Justices of the peace in and for the said County declared that she is with child and that the said Child is likely to be born a Bastard and to be chargeable to the said parish of Saint Clements and that the above bounden WILLIAM CAVELL is the father of the said Child: If therefore the said WILLIAM CAVELL and THOMAS CAVELL or either of them or their or either of their Heirs Executors or Administrators do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly indemnify and save harmless as well the above named Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint Clements and their successors for the time being as also all and singular the inhabitants and parishioners of the said parish of Saint Clements which now are or hereafter shall be for the time being of and from all manner of Costs Taxes rates assessments and charges whatsoever for or by reason of the Birth Education and Maintenance of the said Child and of and from all actions suits troubles and other charges and demands whatsoever touching or concerning the same Then this present obligation to be void and of no effect or otherwise to be in full force and virtue.
