Know all men by these presents that we FRANCIS SPERNON of Pengelly within the parish of Breage in the County of Cornwall, Esqr. and JOHN CARNE of the Borough of Truro in the said County Cordwainder are held and firmly Bound unto SAMUELL FFOOTE Esqr. and THOMAS SHEAR Church Wardens And Mr. JOHN MOORE and WILLIAM TREBILCOCK Overseers of the poor of the parish of St. Clements in the said County In the Sum of One Hundred pounds of Lawfull Money of Great Britain to be paid unto the said SAMUELL FOOTE THOMAS SHEAR JOHN MOORE and WILLIAM TREBILCOCK or either of them or their or either of their certain Attorney Executors Administrators Successors or Assigns we Bind our selves and each of us, our and each of our Heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals Dated the Thirteenth Day of August In the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and forty six.

Whereas ALICE KNEEBONE of the said parish of St. Clements single woman hath sworn before JOHN THOMAS Esqr. one of his Majesty’s Justices of the peace for the said County That she hath lately been delivered of a female Bastard Child And that the above named FRANCIS SPERNON is the father of such Child NOW the Consideration of this Obligation is such that if the above Bounden FRANCIS SPERNON and the said JOHN CARNE or either of them their or either of their Heirs Executors or Administrators do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly Acquitt exonerate and discharge or otherwise well and sufficiently save and keep harmless and Indemnify the Church Wardens and Overseers of the poor of the said parish of St. Clements and their successors for the time being and every of them as also all the Inhabitants and parishioners of the said parish of St. Clements which now are or hereafter shall be for the time being and every of them of and from all and all manner of Costs charges Damages and Expences whatsoever which shall or may in any manner arise happen come grow or be imposed upon them or either or any of them for or by reason or means of the Birth Maintenance education and bringing up of the said female Child and of and from all Actions Suits Troubles Charges Damages and Demands whatsoever touching and concerning the same Then this Obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and virtue.
