KNOW all men by these presents That we JOHN HOARE of the parish of Saint Clements in the County of Cornwall, Husbandman, THOMAS WILTON of the Borough of Truro in the said County Blacksmith and WILLIAM ANDEAN of the parish of Kenwyn in the said County Carpenter are held and firmly bound to RICHARD JULYAN and JOHN TREZISE Churchwardens and WILLIAM GATLEY and RICHARD OSMAN Overseers of the poor of Saint Clements aforesaid (in Trust for the parishioners of the said parish of St. Clements) in Forty Pounds of Good and lawfull Money of Great Britain To be paid to the said RICHARD JULYAN and JOHN TREZISE WILLIAM GATLEY and RICHARD OSMAN or their certain Attorney Executors Administrators or Assigns For the true payment whereof we bind ourselves and each and every and jointly and severally and our and each and every of our Heirs Executors and Administrators and every of them firmly by these Presents Sealed with our Seals Dated this Seventeenth Day of September in the Twenty third year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty three.

The Condition of this Obligation is such That Whereas ELIZABETH HARRIS of Saint Clements aforesaid Singlewoman hath in and by her Voluntary Examination taken in writing and upon Oath before FRANCEZI GREGOR Esquire, one of his Majesty’s Justices of the peace in and for the said County declared that she is with Child or Children, and that the said Child or Children is or are likely to be born a Bastard or Bastards and to be chargeable to the said parish of Saint Clements and that the above bounden JOHN HOARE is the Father of the said Child or Children , If therefore the said JOHN HOARE THOMAS WILTON and WILLIAM ANDEAN or either or any of them or either or any of their Heirs Executors or Administrators do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly indemnify and save harmless and well the above named RICHARD JULYAN and JOHN TREZISE WILLIAM GATLEY and RICHARD OSMAN Churchwardens and Overseers of the parish of Saint Clements aforesaid and their successors for the Time being as also all and singular the other Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said parish of Saint Clements which now are or hereafter shall be for the time being, of and from all manner of Costs Taxes Rates Assessments and Charges whatsoever by or by Reason of the Birth Education and Maintenance of the said Child or the Birth Education and Maintenance of the said Children and of and from all Actions Suits Troubles and other Charges and demands whatsoever touching or concerning the same, That then this Obligation to be void and of none Effect, or else to remain in full force and virtue.
