KNOW all Men by these presents that We JAMES HAWKEY of the parish of St. Clements in the County of Cornwall Butcher and WILLIAM HAWKEY of the parish of St. Teath in the said County Yeoman are held and firmly bound unto JOHN TREZIZE and RICHARD JULIAN Churchwardens and RICHARD OSMAN and WILLIAM GATTLEY Overseers of the Poor of the said parish of St. Clements in the Sum of Forty Pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to the said Churchwardens and Overseers their Exors Admors Successors or Assigns To which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of us by himself for the whole and in gross our and either of our Heirs Exors and Admors firmly by these Presents Sealed with our Seals dated the First day of March in the Twenty fourth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty four.

WHEREAS MARY ENDEAN of the said parish of St. Clements singlewoman hath declared herself to be great with Child which when born will become chargeable to the said parish of St. Clements NOW the Condition of this Obligation is such that if the above bound JAMES HAWKEY and WILLIAM HAWKEY or any or either of them their or any or either of their Heirs Exors or Admors do and shall from Time to Time and at all Times hereafter fully and clearly acquit free and discharge or well and sufficiently save harmless and indemnified the above named JOHN TREZIZE and RICHARD JULIAN RICHARD OSMAN and WILLIAM GATTLEY Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of St. Clements aforesaid and their successors for the Time being and every of them as also the Inhabitants and parishioners of the said parish of St. Clements which now are or hereafter shall be for the Time being and every of them of and from all and all manner of Expenses Damages Costs and Charges whatsoever which shall or may at any Time hereafter arise happen grow or be imposed upon them or either or any of them for or by Reason or Means of the said MARY ENDEAN being great with Child as aforesaid or for or by Reason of the Birth Maintenance Education and Bringing up of such Child or Children that she the said MARY ENDEAN now goeth with and shall be delivered of and of and from all other Actions Suits Troubles Charges Damages and Demands whatsoever touching or concerning the same Then this Obligation to be void, else to remain in full force and Virtue.
