Will of John Keast dated 7 August 1746

This Seventh Day of August 1746
In the Name of God Amen I John Keast of this Burrough of Callington and County of Cornwall Husbandman being very Sick and Weak in Body but of a Sound and Perfect Memory (Praise be to God for the same) and knowing the Uncertainty of this life on Earth and being Desireouse to Settle all things in Order do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First and Principally I commend my Soul to Almighty God my Creator Assuredly believing that I shall receive full pardon and free Remission of all my Sins and be saved by the Precious Death and Merritts of my Blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ and my Body to the Earth from whence it was taken in full Assureance of it’s Resurrection from thence at this last Day as for my Burial I Desire it may be Decent and in a Christian Manner at the discretion of my Executors or Executrix hereafter named shall be thought meet and Convenient and as to my Wordly Estate as the Lord hath blessed me with my Will and meaning is, the same shall be Imploy’d and Bestow’d as hereafter by this my last Will and Testament is Expressed, And first I do Revoke Renounce frustrate all other Wills by me formerly made and Declare and Appoint this my last Will and Testament in Manner following, Imprimis I Give to my son Nicholas One Shilling to be paid him after my Deceased by my Executrix, Item I Give to my son Edward the Sum of One Shilling to be paid him after my Deceased, Item I Give to my Daughter Mary One Shilling to be paid her after my Deceased. Item I Give to my Daughter Bethsheba whom I likewise Constitute make and Ordain my Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament of all my Goods both Quick and Dead which I now Enjoy by her freely to be Enjoyed paying my Debts which I Desire may be performed and I Desire my Dearly beloved Wife to take care of my Daughter Bethsheba before that she is capable of Acting for herself, And I do hereby Utterly Disallow Revoke Dissannull all and every other former Testaments Wills Legacyes and Executrix by me in anyways before named Willd and Bequeathd Ratifyeing and Confirming this and no Other to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto Sett my hand and Seal the Day and Year first above written.

The above written Will was proved in Common Forme the 6th Day of October 1746 Before the Revd. Mr. Wm. Waddon Clerk Mr. of Arts Official er. And Admion of the Goods et. of Thesd. Deced and of all things howsoever concerning his said will was Granted to Mary Keast the Widdowe ----? Of thesd. Deced and the Trustee during the Minority of Bethsheba Keast the Daughter of the said Deced and the Sole Executrix named in the said Will (being first Sworne er/---ing etc.)

No Jn: The above written Will is a True Coppy of the last Will and Testament of the above named John Keast Examined and Compared with the Original this 31th Day of October 1746 by us
