The Will of one
Elizabeth Slade
Spinster Deced, Proved
in Common form before
the Revd Mr Edmund
Powell Clerk Bachelor
of Arts Surrogate etc
& the admion of
the Goods etc of the said
Deced & of all things
howsoever Concerning the
said Will was Granted
to the Executor in Trust
therein named/ being
first Sworn etc/ Saving
etc/
No Inventry
In the name of God Amen I Elizabeth Slade of the parish
of St. Michael Carhayes
in the County of Cornwall Spinster being weak in Body but of a sound and
disposing Mind
memory and understanding (thanks be to Almighty God for the same) Do
make and
ordain this my last Will and Testament in Manner and Form Following,
that is to say
First I give and bequeath to my sister in Law Isabella Slade
Widow the Sum of Two pounds & two
Shillings to be paid her within six months next after my Decease by my
Executor hereinafter named
Item I give and bequeath to my Nephew Peter Slade the
Sum of Eighty pounds to be paid him by my
Executor herein after named on his Attainment of the Age of Twenty one
years & not otherwise
also I give unto my said Nephew Peter Slade my Silk Bed
Quilt, my four best Tea Spoons and Tea
Tongs One half Dozen China Tea Cups and Saucers, My Wainscot Table and
Damask Table
Cloth and one Silver Meat Spoon to be given him or such other person as
he shall appoint
immediately after my Decease --
also I give unto my niece Ann now the wife of
William Rickett of the parish of St. Blasy
the Sum of Ten pounds to be paid her by my Executor hereinafter named
for her own separate use &
Exclusive of her Husband who is not to Intermeddle therewith to be paid
her one half at the
Expiration of two Months after my decease the Remainder at the End of
twelve Months
likewise to my said Niece four Blanketts and four Bedsheets and the Bed,
Bedtye Bedstead and
Furniture wherein I now usually lodge and one of the Quilts to be
delivered by my Executor
immediately after my decease --
Item I Give unto my Niece Elizabeth Slade the Sum of
Twenty pounds to be paid her by my Executor
at her Attainment of the Age of Twenty one years and I likewise give to
my said Niece
my Chest of Drawers Three Silk Gowns, One Linnen Bed Quilt, Two Tea
Kettles, one Silver Meat
Spoon and some odd blue and white China Cups and Saucers to be delivered
to her Mamma for her
use immediately after my decease --
also I give and bequeath unto Ipsa parnall Wife of
Mr. Richard parnall the Sum of Five pounds
to be paid her by my Executor hereinafter named within Three Months next
after my Decease to buy
some plate to keep for my Sake --
also I give unto my Kinswoman Elizabeth the Daughter of
Bernard and Temperance Rowse of St. Collumb
if living at the time of my Death the Sum of Ten pounds to be paid her
by my Executor within one year
next my Decease
Item I give unto Elizabeth Quintrell Daughter of
James Quintrell of the parish of Verryan my
God:Daughter the Sum of Five pounds to be paid her when she comes of Age
- likewise a Crape Gown &
hat to be given her immediately after my decease --
Lastly All the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Messuages Lands
Tenements Goods Chattles and Effects whatsoever
or wheresoever situate after payment of my just Debts Legacies and
funerall Expences I Do Give –
devise and bequeath unto Richard parnall of the
aforesaid parish of St. Michael Carhayes In Trust
and for the only proper Use and Behoof of my Nephew Simon Slade
untill his Attainment of the Age
of Twenty one years & no longer But in Case my said Nephew Simon
Slade shall dye before he attains
the Age of Twenty one years Then In Trust for my nephew the abovenamed
peter Slade untill he comes
of Age But in Case my both Nephews dye before their Attainment of the
Age of Twenty one years then In
Trust for my two Nieces Ann and Elizabeth
to be equally divided between them share and share alike,
and I do hereby make constitute and appoint him the said Richard
Parnall Whole and Sole Executor of this my last will
(But In Trust only as aforesaid In Witness whereof I have hereunto Sett
my Hand and Seal this Eighth
Day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred & Seventy
