Know all men by these presents That we CHARLES ELLIS and
JAMES ELLIS both of the Parish of Saint Buryan in the
County of Cornwall, Yeoman are held and firmly bound to
JOHN WEYMOUTH and JAMES THOMASIN Church Wardens and
HENRY WEYMOUTH and WILLIAM BASISTAS Overseers of the
Poor of the said Parish in the sum of Forty Pounds of
lawful money of England to be paid to the said JOHN
WEYMOUTH, JAMES THOMASIN, HENRY WEYMOUTH and WILLIAM
BASISTAS or their successors Church Wardens and
Overseers of the poor of the said Parish for the time
being or their certain Attorney or Assigns To which
payment by us well and truly to be made we bind
ourselves and each of us by himself our and either of
our Heirs Executors and Administrators and every and
either of them jointly and severally, firmly by these
presents Sealed with our Seals and dated this Nineteenth
day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand eight
hundred and fourteen.
The Condition of this Obligation is such That Whereas
Susannah Marks of the said Parish Single woman is now
with child or children and that such child or children
is or are likely to be born a Bastard or Bastards and
become chargeable to the said Parish If therefore the
said CHARLES ELLIS and JAMES ELLIS their Heirs Executors
or Administrators do and shall from time to time and at
all times hereafter save harmless and keep indemnified
the said JOHN WEYMOUTH, JAMES THOMASIN, HENRY WEYMOUTH
and WILLIAM BASISTAS and the succeeding Church Wardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish and their
successors for the time being and the present and future
Inhabitants of the said Parish of and from all manner of
costs charges expenses and incumbrances whatsoever which
shall or may happen or accrue unto or against the said
Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish and the present and future Inhabitants thereof
for or by reason or means of the birth of the said Base
child or children and the maintenance and education of
such child or children or any other charges or demands
whatsoever touching or concerning the same Then the
above obligation to be void and of none effect,
otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
