Know all Men by these presents that I ZEBULEN SAUNDERS of the parish of Budock in the County of Cornwall Labourer am held and firmly bound unto SAMUEL TRESIDDER and MATTHEW ALLISON Churchwardens, and JOHN ADAMS and RICHARD LAWRANCE Overseers of the Poor of the said parish of Budock and County aforesaid (In trust for the Parishioners of the said Parish) in the sum of Forty pounds of Good and Lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to the said Churchwardens and Overseers or their certain Attorney their Executors Administrators or Assignes to which payment well and truly to be made I bind myself my Heirs Executors and Administrators and every of them firmly by these presents. Sealed with my Seale and Dated the fourth day of March In the twenty fifth year of the Reign of our Soveregn Lord George the third King of Great Britain and so forth and in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty five.

The Condition of this Obligation is such that whereas MARY TREVEN(A?) of the parish of Budock aforesaid, single woman hath in an by her Voluntary Examination taken in writing and upon Oath before WILLIAM HENRY REYNELL one of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Cornwall declared that she is with Child of one or more Child or Children and that such Child or Children is or are likely to be Born a Bastard or Bastards and to be Chargeable to the said parish of Budock and that the above bounden ZEBULEN SANDERS is the father of such Child or Children. If therefore the said ZEBULEN SANDERS his Heirs Executors or Administrators do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and Clearly indemnify and save harmless as well the above named Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the said parish of Budock and their successors for the time being as also all and singular the other Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said parish of Budock which now are or hereafter shall be for the time being of and from all and all manner of Costs Taxes Rates Assessments and Charges whatsoever for or by reason or meanes of the Birth Education and Maintenance of such Child or Children and of and from all Actions Suits Troubles and other Charges and demands whatsoever touching or concerning the same That Then this present Obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
