Know all men by these Presents that we WILLIAM WILMOTT of Mabe in the County of Cornwall Yeoman and HUGH DATSON of the same Parish Labourer are held and firmly bound unto SAMUEL TRESIDDER and MATTHEW ALLISON Church Wardens and JOHN ADAMS and PETER RENFREE Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Budock in the said County (In Trust for the Parishioners of the said Parish) in the full sum of ?Fifty? Pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to (damage obliterating writing) SAMUEL TRESIDDER MATTHEW ALLISON JOHN ADA(MS and P)ETER RENFREE or their certain Attorney their Executors, Administrators or Assigns to which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of us jointly and severally, and our and each and every of our Heirs Executors and Administrators and every of them firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals and dated the first Day of July in the Twenty fifth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty five.

Now the Condition of this Obligation is such that whe(reas) ANN JOHNS of the said Parish of Budock Single Woman hath declared upon Oath that she is now Pregnant with one or more Child or Children which said Child or Children when Born is or are likely to be born a Bastard or Bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of Budock and that the above bounden WILLIAM WILLMETT is the Father of such Child or Children If therefore the said WILLIAM WILLMETT and HUGH DATSON or either of them their or either of their Heirs Executors or Administrators do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly indemnify and save harmless as well the above named Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the said Parish of Budock and their Suc(cesso)rs for the time being as also all and singular (the other) Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said Parish of Budock which now are (or) hereafter (shall) be of and from all and all manner of Costs Charges Rates Taxes and Assessments whatsoever occasioned or to be occasioned for or by reason or means of the Birth Education and Maintenance of the said Child or Children and of and from all other Actions Suits Troubles and other Charges and Demands whatsoever Touching or concerning the same That then this Obligation to be void otherwise to remain and be in full force and virtue.
