Know all men by these presents, that we SAMPSON RUNNALLS of the Town of Penzance in the County of Cornwall Inn keeper and GEORGE EVA of the same place Cordwainer are held and firmly bound unto MATTHEW ALLISON and SAMUEL TRESIDDER Gentleman Churchwardens and JOHN ADAMS and PETER REMFRE Overseers of the Poor of the parish of Budock in the said County (In trust for the parishioners of the said parish) in the sum of Forty Pounds of Good and Lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid to the said MATTHEW ALLISON SAMUEL TRESSIDER JOHN ADAMS & PETER REMFRE or their certain Attorney, their Executors Administrators or Assigns to which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of us, jointly and severally, and our and each of our Heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals and dated the Twenty fifth day of April in the twenty fifth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty five.

The Condition of this Obligation is such That Whereas ELIZABETH FRANCES of the parish of Budock in the County of Cornwall Singlewoman, in her Examination taken in writing upon Oath before WILLIAM HENRY REYNOLL Clerk one of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County did declare that on the Twenty fifth day of October One thousand seven hundred and eighty two in the parish of Budock and County aforesaid She the said ELIZABETH FRANCES was delivered of a Male Bastard Child and that RICHARD RUNNALLS late of the said parish of Budock was the father of the said Bastard Child. If therefore the said SAMPSON RUNNALLS and GEORGE EVA or either of them their or either of their Heirs, Executors or Administrators do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly Indemnify and save harmless, as well the above named Church Wardens and Overseers of the poor of the said parish of Budock, and their Successors for the time being as also all and singular the other Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said parish of Budock which now are, or hereafter shall be for the time being, of and from all manner of Costs, Taxes, Rates, Assessments and Charges whatsoever for or by reason of the Birth, Education, and Maintenance of the said Child and of and from all Actions, Suits, Troubles, and other Charges and Demands whatsoever touching or concerning the same, then this present Obligation to be void and of none effect, otherwise to be, and remain in full force and virtue.
