Will of Hart Key, dated 13 October 1896

THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTEMENT of me HART KEY of Penquean in the parish of Saint Breock in the County of Cornwall Gentleman. I APPOINT my eldest son John Key and also my second son Horace Henry Key, in case and when he shall attain the age of 21 years, to be the EXECUTORS and TRUSTEES of this my will. I BEQUEATH my furniture and household and personal effects to my wife absolutely. I DEVISE to my son John Key absolutely my estate at Penquean consisting of a dwelling house courtlage and yard and the five fields known as Home Meadow, Middle Meadow, Outer Meadow, Three Corners, and Great Field which property was purchased by me some years ago from Henry Blake. I DEVISE the field known as Above Town (near Edmonton), the field called Lower Above Town (the fence of which field has been torn down and with the fields formerly known as Hill Head, Higher Betty and Lower Betty – which three last mentioned fields are the property of my wife – now forms one field and is known as Above Town), and the fields at Tregunna known as Bee’s Hay, Long Meadow, Square Meadow, Camy’s Meadow, the Small Meadow (Formerly a cottage, garden, mowhay and barn), and the small orchard outside Higher Well Meadow (which field is the property of my wife) to my son the said Horace Henry Key if and when he shall attain the age of 21 years. I DEVISE the fields at Tregunna known as Malt House Meadow, Middle Praze, Lower Praze, and the orchard adjoining Lower Praze and the fields near Trevanson known as Water Park, Lower Water Park, Plantation and Quarry, Marsh and Further Well Lake to my son Hart Reginald Key if and when he shall attain the age of 21 years. I DECLARE that in the event of either or both of my sons the said Horace Henry Key or Hart Reginald Key dying before they shall attain the age of 21 years the property hereinbefore devised to them respectively on their attaining that age shall be divided equally between such of my children as survive and shall attain the age of 21 years to whom I devised the same accordingly. I DEVISE AND BEQUEATH my Residuary Real Estate and all my farm stock and farming effects and general residuary personal estates, subject to the payment there out of my funeral and testimony expenses and the costs of proving this my will, to my wife absolutely. I DECLARE that during the minority of any child of mine my Trustees shall manage my estate and may apply the whole or such part as they in their discretion shall think fit of the income of the expectant share of any child of mine for or towards his maintenance education or benefit. AS WITNESS my hand this 13th day of October 1896.
