Settlement Paper for Isaac Morten & family, dated
5 May 1704
Cornwall. To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the
Poor and other the Inhabitants of the parish of St Breock in the said
County of Cornwall
Wee the Churchwardens & Overseers of the Poor of the parish of St
Stephens in Brannell in the said County of Cornwall whose Hands & Seals
are hereunto subscribed & affixed doe hereby certify that wee doe owne &
acknowledge that Isaac Morten and Anstire? his wife and Joane their
daughter are att the time of the Execution of these present Inhabitants
legally settled within the said parish of St Stephens in Brannell who
being desirous to remove out of the said parish and reside & inhabit
within your said parish of St Breock Wee hereby for & on the behalf of
our Selves and Successors promise & agree that in case they the said
Isaac Morten Anstire his wife or their or any of their Children shall
att any time hereafter become poor and chargeable to your said parish of
St Breock that the Parishoners of the said parish of St Stephens in
Brannell shall & will on notice to them given retake the said Isaac
Morten his said wife and Children into the said parish of St Stephens in
Brannell and provide for them as the Law requires In Witnesse whereof
wee have hereunto sett our Hands and Seals this fifth day of May Anno
Dm. 1704
