Settlement Paper for Sarah Johns, dated 4 January 1697
 

Cornub To ye Churchwardens & overseers of the pish of St Breock To Every or Either of them
Whereas Complaint hath Been Made unto us this Day by ye Churchwardens & overseers of ye Poor of your said pish, That one Sarah Johns is lately come to Inhabit within your said pish contrary to ye Statutes in that Case Made & provided, And forasmuch as it appeares By ye oath of ye said Sarah Johns that she was Last Leagally Settled as a Covenant Servant in ye pish of St Cullomb Major in this said County These are therefore in his Maties Name to Require & Comand you & every or either of you Jointly upon Sight hereof that you Convey ye said Sarah Johns to ye pish of St Cullomb Major aforesaid Then & there Deliver her over to ye Churchwardens or Overseers of the Poor (or some or one of them) of ye pish of St Cullomb Major aforesaid with a Coppey of this our order Requiring & Commanding you ye said Churchwardens & Overseers of ye Poor of the pish of St Cullomb Major aforesaid, or some or one of them, Doe Receive ye said Sarah Johns into your said pish & there provide for her According to Law Hereof faile not at your Perill
Given under our hands & seales ye fourth day of January In ye Nineth yeare of his Maties. Reigne Anno q Domi 1697
