Settlement Papers for Edward Carne & family, dated 5 & 12 February 1711
 

Cornub. To the Constables Churchwardens & overseers of the Poore of the Parish of St Breock and to Everie or Either of them. And Also to the Churchwardens & overseers of the Poore of the pish of Kenwen and to Everie or Either of them

Whereas upon the Examination of Edward Carne Touching his last Place of Residence and Legall Settlement it appears unto us whose Names are hereunder subscribed two of her Majties. Justices of the Peace for the said County Both of the Quorum upon the oath of the said Edward Carne that he was last Legally Settled within the said parish of Kenwen in the said County. And the overseers of the Poore of the said parish of St Breock having made Complaint unto us that the said Edward Carne is likely to become Chargeable to their said pish of St Breock. And we doe adjudge him the said Edward Carne & wife & children to be Inhabitants Legally Settled within the said parish of Kenwen
These are therefore in her Majesties Name to Require order & Comand you the Constables Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poore of the said pish of St Breock or Either of them on Sight hereof to Remove & Convey the said Edward Carne from your said pish of St Breock unto the said pish of Kenwen and Deliver him with his wife Dorcas and two children unto the Churchwardens and overseers of the Poore of the said pish or to Either of them who are hereby Required on Sight hereof to Receive the said Edward Carne his wife and Children into their said parish of Kenwen and to Provide for them according to Law, And hereof faile nott att your pill Given under our hands & seales the fifth Day of February ano Dom 1711

To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poore of the parish of St Breock in the County of Cornwall and to every and either of them

Wee the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poore of the parish of Kenwyn in the County of Cornwall doe hereby Certify owne and allow that Edward Carne Dorcas his wife and their two Children (who are now desirous to live within your parish of St Breock) are Inhabitants Legally Settled within our Said Parish of Kenwyn And wee doe hereby agree that if they or either of them (or any other Children by them begotten or to be begotten) Shall att any time become Chargeable to your Said parish of St Breock wee will receive and Provide for them as other the Poore of our Said parish of Kenwyn they having not acquired any other legall Settlement according to an Act of Parliament in that Case made and Provided In Witnesse whereof wee the Said Church Wardens & Overseers of the Poore have hereunto sett our hands and Seals this twelfth day of February in the tenth yeare of the reign of our Sovereign Lady Anne Queen of Great Britain &c Anno Dmi 1711
