Know all Men by these Presents that we WILLIAM KING and JOHN BOND the Younger Churchwardens and WILLIAM HAMBLY and RICHARD LEAN Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Egloshayle in the County of Cornwall are held and firmly bound unto JOHN BLAKE and RICHARD BUSCOMBE Churchwardens and JAMES WARNE and THOMAS MARTIN Overseers of the Poor of the parish of Saint Breock in the said County (In Trust for the Parishioners of the said parish of Saint Breock) in the sum of Twenty Forty Pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain To be paid to the said JOHN BLAKE RICHARD BUSCOMBE JAMES WARNE and THOMAS MARTIN or their certain Attorney their Executors Administrators or Assigns To which payment well and truly to be made We bind ourselves and each of us jointly and severally, and our and each and every of our Heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals Dated this Fourteenth day of March in the Twelfth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy two.

Whereas ELEANOR TRELEVIN Spinster an Inhabitant legally settled within the aforesaid parish of Egloshayle is now great with Child, and the Child or Children of which she is pregnant when born is and are likely to be born a Bastard or Bastards And whereas JOHN TRELEVIN father of the above named ELEANOR TRELEVIN hath this day given us the above bounden WILLIAM KING JOHN BOND the Younger WILLIAM HAMBLY and RICHARD LEAN security to Indemnify ourselves and Other the Parishioners of the aforesaid parish of Egloshayle from all Charges and Expences that may happen or attend the birth education and maintenance of the Child or Children with which his said Daughter his (sic) now pregnant, and hath petitioned us to become bound for him to the above named JOHN BLAKE, RICHARD BUSCOMBE, JAMES WARNE and THOMAS MARTIN to Indemnify them and other the Parishioners of the parish of Saint Breock aforesaid of and from all such Costs Charges and Expenses which they or either of them shall or may be put unto by reason or means of the aforesaid JOHN TRELEVIN’S taking home his said Daughter to live with him in the aforesaid parish of Saint Breock and of her being delivered of such Child or Children there which we have consented to do NOW the Condition of the Abovewritten Obligation is such That if the Above bounden WILLIAM KING JOHN BOND the Younger WILLIAM HAMBLY and RICHARD LEAN or either of them, their or either of their Heirs Executors or Administrators Do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly indemnify and save harmless as well the above named Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said parish of Saint Breock and their Successors for the time being As also all and singular the other Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said parish of Saint Breock which now are or hereafter shall be, of and from all manner of Costs Charges and Expenses whatsoever which shall or may at any time hereafter in any manner arise happen or be imposed upon them or any of them for or by reason or means of the said Eleanor Trelevins being brought into the parish of Saint Breock aforesaid and Delivered of such Child or Children there. Or for the maintenance and support of such Child or Children; and of and from all Actions, Suits, Charges, Troubles, Impeachments and Demands whatsoever touching or concerning the same; Then this Obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to remain in full force and Virtue.
