Cornwall to Wit To the Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint Breock in the said County.

Whereas Complaint hath been this day made unto us by ELIZABETH SMITH of the said Parish of Saint Breock that by reason of her Poverty, she is unable to maintain her base female child being about five years of age, These are therefore in his Majesty’s name to command and require you the said Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor to pay unto the said ELIZABETH SMITH Twenty Shillings for arrears of keeping and maintaining the said Child to this time and from henceforth to pay and allow the said ELIZABETH SMITH one shilling a week for the support and maintenance of the said Child as long as it shall continue chargeable to the said Parish . Hereof fail not at your Perills.

Given under Our Hands and Seals this 8th day of April in the year of our Lord 1738.
