Know all men by these Presents that we JAMES HAWKE and EDWARD HAWKE of the Parish of Saint Breock in the County of Cornwall am held and firmly bound unto GEORGE BORLASE, Gentleman, and WILLIAM WEST, Churchwardens, and PETER WERRY and GEORGE WOOLCOCK Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint Breock and County aforesaid (in trust for the Parishioners of the said Parish) in the sum of fifty Pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to the said GEORGE BORLASE, WILLIAM WEST, PETER WERRY and GEORGE WOOLCOCK, or their certain Attorney, their Executors Administrators, or Assigns. To which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves, and each of us, jointly and severally, and our, and each, and every of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, firmly by these Presents, sealed with our Seals, dated the sixth day of March in the twenty sixth year of the Reign of our sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland, King Defender of the Faith; and so forth; and in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Eighty Seven.

The Condition of this obligation is such, That Whereas MARY NICHOLLS of the aforesaid Parish of Saint Breock, Single Woman, hath declared that some time in the month of October she the said Mary Nicholls was delivered of a Male Bastard Child, and is since baptized by the name of William and that the said Bastard Child is likely to become chargeable to the said Parish of Saint Breock, and hath charged the above bound JAMES HAWKE with having got her with Child (of her said Bastard Child). If therefore the said JAMES HAWKE and EDWARD HAWKE or either of them, their, or either of their Heirs, Executors, or Administrators do, and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter, fully and clearly Indemnify and save harmless as well the abovementioned Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint Breock, and their successors for the time being; as also, all and singular the other Parishioners and Inhabitants of the said Parish of Saint Breock, which now are, or hereafter shall be, for the time being, of and from all manner of Costs, Taxes, Rates, Assessments, and Charges whatsoever for or by reason of the birth, education, and maintainance of the said Child and of and from all actions, suits, troubles, and other charges and demands whatsoever, touching or concerning the same, that then this present Obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force .
