Will of Philip Spernon, dated 31 August 1742

In the Name of God Amen I Philip Spernon being of Sound Mind and Memory but considering the Uncertainty of this life to the End that the Estate and Other Effectsit hathPleased Almighty God to bless me with in this World may be disposed of after my Death according to my Will and Intention I do hereby make Constitute and Appoint this my last Will and Testament making Void all forms and Willsin Manner followingImprimis I recommend my Soul to Almighty God my Creator firmly Trusting in the Meritts and Mediation of my Blessed Redeemer and Saviour Jesus Christ for Remission of my Sins and my Body to Christian Burial. Item I Give and Bequeath to my Wife One Shilling in Barr of all Claims except her Joyntures_ Item I Give and Bequeath unto my dearly Beloved Daughter_ Jane Spernon a Thousand Pounds to be paid her when she shall Attain to the Age of Twenty five Years and Twenty Pounds a Year before_ Item I Give and Bequeath unto my dearly Beloved Daughter Joanna Spernon a Thousand Pounds to be paid her when she shall Attain to the Age of Twenty five Years and Twenty Pounds a Year before_ Item I Give and Bequeath unto my dearly Beloved Daughter Penelope Spernon a Thousand Pounds to be paid her when she shall Attain to the Age of Twenty five Years and Twenty Pounds a Year before_Item I Give devise and Bequeath unto my dearly beloved Son_ Francis Spernon all that my Mannor of Pengelly and all that my Capital MessuageBarton and Demesne Lands of Pengelly Spernon Gwedna Clise Gwedna Gilly Trowy Tregew Trevollans Trelevan_Talpons Manchey Trussall Mills and Coswinvansin Scituate lyeing and being in the Parishes of Breage Sithney Wendron and Gwinear and all and Singular those my Messuages Lands and Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever that I shall be Intituled unto at the time of my Death_ Also I give and bequeath unto my said son Francis Spernon all my Tin bounds Tin Adventures Copper Adventures and Adventures in Fishery and all my_ Chattell Lease Estates and all my Goods and Chattells Real and Personall of what Nature and kind soever / Subjecting never the less all my said Lands_Goods and Chattells to the payment of my Debts Legacyes and funeral Charges To have and to hold unto my said Son Francis Spernon and to his Heirs and Assigns for evermore whom I hereby Appoint and Ordain my whole and Sole Executor but in case my said Son shall happen to Die before he Attains unto the Age of One and Twenty Years then I do Give Devise and bequeath all my said Lands Goods and Chattells unto my said Three Daughters to be equally Divided between them In Witness whereof to this my last Will and Testament all of my own hand Writeing I Sett my hand and Seal at Pengelly this_

The before written Will was Proved in Comon Form the 17th September 1747 Before the Reverend M William Waddon Clerk Master of Arts Official ew_and Admion of the Goods etc of the Dewd and of all things howsoever_concerning the said Will was granted to Francis Spernon the Son of the said Deied and Whole and Sole Executor named in the said Will, being come of_full age/the Admion with the said Will Annexed formerly Granted to Anthony Spernon Gent as the Guardian lawfully Elected and Admitted during the Minority of the said Francis Spernon the executor aforesaid being Epized and Void by Reason of the said Executors having attained his full age as_aforesaid/ being first Sworn etc/ saveing etc/
