The Will of John Cole Grose, dated 26 June 1851
 

This is the Last Will and Testament of me John Cole Grose the younger of the Borough of Bodmin. I give devise and bequeath unto and to the use of my Father John Cole Grose of Bodmin aforesaid Gentleman his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns respectively All and singular my real and personal Estate Goods Chattels and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and whether in possession or reversion for his and their own absolute use and benefit Subject nevertheless to the payment of my just debts funeral and testamentary Expenses And I hereby appoint my said father sole Executor of this my Will In Witness whereof I the said John Cole Grose the younger have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of June One thousand eight hundred and fifty one

John Bird by Divine Providence, Archbishop of Canterbury, Primate ofall England, and Metropolitan, do by these presents known to all Men, that on the Seventeenth Day of August in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty two at London before the Worshipful John George Middleford Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Honorable
Sir John Dodson Knight Doctor of Laws, Master, Keeper, or Commissary of our Prerogative Court of Canterbury, lawfully constituted the last Will and Testament of the Reverend John Cole Grose the Younger late of Bodmin in the County of Cornwall Clerk deceased hereunto annexed, was proved, approved, and registered: the said Deceased having whilst living, and at the time of his Death, Goods, Chattels, or Credits, in divers Dioceses or Jurisdictions, by reason whereof the proving and registering the said Will, and the granting Administration of all and singular the said Goods, Chattels, and Credits, and also the auditing, allowing, and final discharging the Account thereof, are well known to appertain only and wholly to us, and not to any inferior Judge: and that Administration of all and singular the Goods, Chattels and Credits of the Deceased, and any Way concerning his Will was granted to John Cole Grose the Father of the said Deceased the sole Executor named in the Will he having been already sworn well and faithfully to administer the same, and to make a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said Goods, Chattels, and Credits, and to exhibit the same into the Registry of our said Court, on or before the last Day of February next ensuing, and also to render a just and true Account thereof. Given at the time and Place above written and in the Fifth Year of our Translation //
