The Will of William Spear (Spare), dated 13 March
1747
In the Name of God Amen I William Spear
of the parish of Alternon in the County of Cornwall. Yeoman, being
perfect of Memory thanks be to God do make and ordain this my last will
and Testament in manner and form as followeth, First I Bequeath my soul
into the hands of Almighty God my maker and redeemer and my body to
Christian burial.
Then I give unto Mary Herring my daughter Forty Shillings to be
paid in Twelve Months after my Decease, then I give unto William
Spear my son Two Gunneys of Gold to be paid in twelve months after
my decease. Then I give unto Hezekiah Spear my son Forty
shillings to be paid in twelve months time after my decease. Then I give
unto Alis Rowe my daughter Forty shillings to be paid in twelve
months time after my decease, Then I give unto Richard Herring’s
children to each and either of them two shillings and sixpence to each
of them to be paid in twelve months after my decease. Then I give unto
Hezekiah Spear’s children to each and either of them two
shillings and sixpence to each of them to be paid in twelve months after
my decease. Then I give unto John Rowe’s children to each and
either of them two shillings and sixpence to each of them to be paid in
twelve months after my decease. Then I give unto John Spear my
brother two shillings and sixpence to be paid in twelve months after my
decease. And all the rest of my Goods Chattells and Creditts I give unto
Grace Spear my wife whome I make my whole and sole Executive of
this my last will and testament Revoking all former wills and to see my
body Christianly buried and my Debts and Legacyes well and truly paid.
In Witnefs hereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seal this Thirteenth
Day of March One Thousand Seven Hundred Forty Seaven.

The before written Will was proved in Common Forme
the 28th April 1747 before the Rev. Mr William Waddon Clerk Master of
Arts Official etc. and Admion of the Goods ow of the deced and of all
things concerning the said Will was granted to the Executive therein
named / being first Sworn in/ Saveing etc .
