Translation (Lanscarfe Bodmin)
Two weeks after Easter 1661 or 1662
This is the final agreement, made in the Court of the
Lord King at Westminster on the fifteenth day of Easter
in the 13th year of the reign of Charles the Second, by
the grace of God, King of England, Scotland, France and
Ireland, Defender of the Faith etc, from the Conquest,
before the Judges Orlando Bridgeman, Robert Hyde, Thomas
Tyroll and Samuel Brown and other faithful subjects of
the Lord King then there present, between Daniel Wills
and Gertrude his wife, plaintiffs and Joseph Toker,
gentleman and Margaret his wife deforciants concerning
two messuages, one barn, two gardens, two orchards ten
acres of arable land, three acres of meadow, fifteen
acres of pasture and twenty acres of furze-break and
heath with appurtenances in Trecalins alias Trecollas
Popehouse Alternon and Blisland, whence a plea of
covenant was summoned between them in the same court,
namely that the aforesaid Joseph and Margaret
acknowledged the aforesaid tenement with appurtenances
to be the right of Daniel himself as that which the same
Daniel and Gertrude had by gift of the aforesaid Joseph
and Margaret and which they remised and quitclaimed from
Joseph and Margaret and their heirs to the aforesaid
Daniel and Gertrude and the heirs of Daniel himself for
ever. And moreover the same Joseph and Margaret have
granted for themselves and the heirs of the same Joseph
that they will warrant to the aforesaid Daniel and
Gertrude and the heirs of Daniel himself the aforesaid
tenement with appurtenances forever. And for this
acknowledgement, remise, quitclaim, warrant, fine and
agreement the same Daniel and Gertrude gave to the
aforesaid Joseph and Margaret sixty pounds sterling.
Although ordinary dating was used during the
Interregnum and Commonwealth Charles II reign was
considered to have started on his father's death on 30
January 1649
