Know all Men by these presents that we WALTER OKE of Launceston in the County of Cornwall Clothier and EDWARD OKE of the same place, Blacksmith his brother are held and firmly bound unto EDWARD PERCIVAL Esq., CHARLES BURNARD, RICHARD LAFFER and RICHARD NORTHEY Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the parish of Altarnun in the said County and those ? in trust for the Parishoners of the said parish in the sum of One Hundred pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to the said EDWARD PERCIVAL, CHARLES BURNARD, RICHARD LAFFER and RICHARD NORTHEY or those Certain Attorney Executors Administrators or Assigns for the sure and certain payment of which money are being ourselves our Heirs Executors and Administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents Sealed with our seals dated the Thirtieth day of June in the fourth year of the reign of our Soverign Lord George the third now King of Great Britain & c. and in the year of our Lord 1764.
The Condition of the above written obligation be such that whereas CHARITY MATTHEW of the said parish of Altarnun single woman hath lately been beought to Bed of a male Bastard child which has since been baptized by the name of JAMES that whereas the said CHARITY MATTHEW hath declared that the above bounden WALTER OKE is the father thereof. Now if the said WALTER OKE and EDWARD OKE or either of them their or either of their Heirs Executors Administrators do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully and clearly indemnify and save harmful as well the above named Churchwardens and Overseers of the said parish of Altarnun and their successors for the time being or also all and every other the Parishoners and Inhabitants of the said parish of Altarnun which now are or hereafter shall be of and from all manner of Costs Charges rates and asessments whatsoever for or by reason of the gven Execution and maintenance of the said child and of and from all actions Suits troubles and other Charges whatsoever then the above written obligation is to be void and of no use effect otherwise to remain and be in full force.
