Know all men by their presents that we WILLIAM GABRIEL and BENJAMIN GABRIEL both of the parish of Altarnun in the County of Cornwall are Held and Firmly bound unto GEORGE VENNING, NEVILLE NORTHY Churchwardens and THOMAS WHALE and JOHN BURNARD Overseers of the poor of the parish of Altarnun in the sum of Tweny pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to them the said GEORGE VENNING, NEVILLE NORTHY, THOMAS WHALE and JOHN BURNARD or to their or either of their certain Attorney their Executors, Administrators or Assigns to which payment well and truly to be made to bind Ourselves and each of us Jointly and severally for the whole one and each of our Executors Administrators and Assigns firmly by these presents sealed with our seals dated this Nineteenth day of September in the fifth year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Five.
THE CONDITION of the above Obligation is such that WHEREAS GRACE COCK a single woman was on or about the eighth or ninth day of February which was in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Four Delivered of a male Bastard Child named JAMES COCK which said child is likely to become Chargeable to the said parish of Altarnun and that the Above Bounden WILLIAM GABRIEL is the reputed father of the said child if therefore the said WILLIAM GABRIEL and BENJAMIN GABRIEL or either of them their or either of their Heirs Executors or Administrators do and shall from time to time and of are all times hereafter fully and clearly Indemnify and save Harmless as well the above named Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said parish of Altarnun and their successors for the time being as all and singular the parishioners of the said parish of Altarnun which now are and any time hereafter shall or may be for the time being of and from Altarnun of Cost Taxes Rates Asesments and Charges whatsoever for all actions Suits Trouble and other Charges and Demands whatsoever Touching or Concerning the same their this Obligation is to be Void and of no effect otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue.
