The Mithian Baptism Register contains the following
preface:
I, Alfred Lord, Incumbent of the parish of St Peter Mithian do
hereby certify that all parties whose names are entered into this
Register beginning with the name of “Richard Son of Wm & Mary Paul” and
ending with the name of “Mary Reed Daughter of James and Mary Crage”
were duly baptized either privately or in the Temporary Church Chapel or
Licensed School room of the then District of Mithian previous to the
Consecration of St Peter’s Church which Church was consecrated on the
twenty second day of October one Thousand Eight hundred and Sixty one
that their names were registered some at the beginning and end of the
book of occasional offices now used in this Church and the remaining
names in two Paper Books affixed to the beginning of this Register and
that they were duly and truly transcribed by myself into this Register.
